  1. I have lots of divx movies to convert, but I am experiencing a couple of problems with the conversion with TMPGEnc.

The first major problem is that parts of the movies( as the bottom of the movie) are missing, so movies with subtitles will only display the partial top of the subtitles. Could it be because the resolution between the source and final are different? The source divx movies are lower than the DVD res(720x480). How do I fixed this with TMPG or any encoder so that it will display the whole movie?? I don't mind if there are black bars or a bit stretching.

Second problem is audio synching. A divx movie about 25 minutes will start to lose audio synching after like 16 minutes into the movies. Any solutions???

  2. If the original movie is missing part of the screen..then you cant get it back.
For audio sync.....Try this method for extracting the audio as a WAV then use the WAV for audio source in TMPGE:

No that's not it. What I meant to say is that the converted movie(once burned on a DVD) is wholely displayed on the computer, but when played on the television(with dvd player), the lower part of the movie isn't displayed. Is there an option in TMPGEnc to stretch the movie so the whole movie is displayed?? Or add black bars on the side for proper display?

  4. Your TV will crop the image slightly, hence the missing bits of subtitles. In Tmpgenc there are several video arrange methods available on the settings dialog advanced tab. One of these should work, maybe center, custom size is the one that you need. TmpGenc will then fill the rest of the frame with black bars.

BTW, let TmpGenc do any resizing you need, it does a pretty good job of it.

    Hope this helps

That's the thing, I have been trying several settings and couldn't seem to find the right one. I found the setting where the black bars wil show up on the side of the movies, but those black bars didn't appear on TV(and the bottom is still cropped) once the movie was burned on the DVD.

The orignal Divx movie is a 544x400, what setting in video or advance should I choose if I want to display the whole thing on TV with DVD resolution of 720x480??

  6. try the Advanced > Custom Settings.
Experiment and check it out in the File > Preview.
