Ok, so I'm getting better at ripping and encoding. I would like to rip a dvd and keep the movie soundtrack and add the directors comments as the second stereo track.
Here's where I'm at:
= I rip the movie with smartripper, demuxing all tracks so I get multiple .ac3 files.
= Encode the movie with cce and get a m2v video file.
= I them multiplex the m2v file with two .ac3 files in bbmpeg.
= I then play that in Powerdvd, but it only show a single audio channel.
Do the audio streams need to be mp2? Or something other than .ac3? Am I incorrectly assumming that by multiplexing the mpg2 program stream with 2 stereo streams that the dvd player will read this and know that there are 2 audio tracks? Is there something to setup in the svcd menuing structure that I have to setup to employ dual audio tracks?

Svcds do not support ac3. There is practically no chance that you will get your hardware dvd player to play a svcd with ac3 audio, so yes you must convert to mp2 first.
From my experience, PowerDVD and WinDVD will only play SVCDS with multiple audio streams if it is reading off of the burnt disk in SVCD mode. If you simply load the mpg in file mode it doesnt seem to support switching to the second audio stream, at least not well.
