Because my kids tend to beat the holy living crap out of the kid-dvds, I took the initiative to back up a bunch of the most watched ones. Everything went well until I hit the "Powerpuff Girls - Powerpuff Bluff" and "Powerpuffgirls - Down 'n' Dirty".
Both of these discs ripped happily, and de-muxed happily into their m2v and ac3 components, with SmartRipper. When I went to bring them in to SpruceUp, I got a fatal import error: "Progressive Frame Flag In Picture Coding Extension Is Set To 0"
According to the help docs (not that helpful), this indicates a non-DVD compliant video stream.
I was able to narrow down the error to the very beginning of chapter 9 on each of the discs.
I could just eliminate chapter 9 from both video streams when I rip it with Smartripper, but that isn't the point.. I am trying to back up the entire thing, not 90% of it.
The only other authoring program I have that can handle AC3 streams is an old and broken copy of DVDit! (v. 1.1.1).. I haven't tried this whole procesure with DVDit! yet (it is a crippled copy.. chapter marks are near impossible). Now, if I could get my hands on a newer copy, I could avoid SpruceUp all together, but that is probably wishful thinking.
Does anyone have any ideas how I could get around this? My kids have already brutalized several DVDs (no, these particular discs are in great shape) that I was able to rescue by backing them up...

Just a quick update.. I was wrong about the one DVD.. I had no problems with "The Powerpuff Girls - Powerpuff Bluff" aside from an audio sync problem.
The problem exists only with "The Powerpuff Girls - Down 'n' Dirty".
