  1. Ok im getting a DVDRW burner very soon and I figured I would learn as much as i cna about the art of burning DVDs. one of the main question s I have pertain to CVD .

One of the big reasons I want the DVD burner is so i can fit 5 episodes in SVCD format on one disc - to make my libray a little smaller.

My question is, If I were to encode all my episode as CVD would I be able to put them onto a DVDr with no problems - I already know that my DVD player will play CVDs. and I know that the whole reason people are so happy about this format is because it is DVD compliant - i just wanted to knwo if this is true.
Ok - you got me - i dont know anything - you happy now!

you're right that CVD's 352x480 is DVD complant, but audio must be sample at 48000,not the default of 44100. If your encodeing a new CVD to go on DVD use 48000 sample rate. If it's an existing CVD you'll probably need to re-encode the audio to 48000.

Also, if your want your CVD to be completely DVD compliant, make sure you set the "MAX number of frames in GOP" to 18 (NTSC) or 15 (PAL).

    Hope That Helps!!! 8) :P
