  1. I am just wondering if it is possible to record a dvd+r as the source to dvd-r discs?

I have a duplicator running 7 pioneer dvd-rw's and was wondering if it is possible, but I don't think so because of the different file structures of the 2 discs.

Just thought I'd ask though. And if not possible, anyone have a quick way to convert +r to -r so that it can be used in the dulpicator? Thanks.

  2. The problem with DVD+R and DVD-R is that the "firmware" for the drives are made so they do not detect the competing format. The discs themselves are almost an identical copy. The structure of the formatting may be slightly different.

The easy way is to take the TS__Video Folder contents of the DVD+R/+RW disc and burn them to a TS__Video folder on a DVD-R disc then do your duplication.

This is how most people burn multiple discs with Nero or any other burning DVD program.

    1) DVD+R (TS__Video Folder contents) ---> copy to hardrive (portable)

    2) Take the portable hardrive and plug to a computer with a DVD-R drive

    3) Burn from the portable hardrive to DVD-R ----> duplicate w/ your setup

We are talking here DVDs that you created not copyrighted commercial DVDs.

Don't have a portable hardrive? 1) Maybe Zip the folder TS__Video, 2) then split the files into 640Mb chunks. 3) Burn to 7 CDs and 4) transfer to another computer with a DVD-R drive. 5) Copy all contents of the 7CDs 8) reconstitute the Zip file, 9) Unzip, 10) Burn to DVD-R 11) duplicate

    Just a thought

  3. Thanks VidMan for the great info! I guess it is unavavoidable to make the +R into a -R, but the process is simple enough (I hope!). I would hate to be the one that has to zip and unzip and zip all those files together, I'm just glad that my computer has 120gb's.... but even that is filling up these days... hmm... time for that new 250gb HDD!

Thanks again for the help, oh, and yes, of course these are not commercial DVD's!
