  1. I recently downloaded a divx-avi movie, the size of which is 702megs.I have no problem converting it to vcd, only that it comes out at 718megs after conversion.Which is to large for my 650meg cdr disk.I would like to know if there is anyway that after I convert it to vcd, that some how I can shrink the file size from 718megs to fit on my 650meg cdr disk, not lose quality and still play on my stand alone dvd player, which is vcd capable?I would appreciate any help that anyone could give me.Thank You Louiep43

you could go get yourself a 700MB cdr and cut off the credits of the movie.. OR
encode at a VBR rate to make the final file smaller.

  3. Your 718MB VCD (Mpeg1) will fit on 650 MB CDR since the data is written in Mode 2 and it allows up to 750 MB of Mpeg 1 per 74min CDR.

    .. OR
encode at a VBR rate to make the final file smaller
VCD with VBR is XVCD and therefore not compatible with most DVD players.
