1. I have a Sony DVP-NS700Progressive scan. I don't have it set to progressive scan when Iam trying to watch SVCD. Here it is; I took a divx movie and converted it too SVCD using TMPGENC to SVCD mpeg2. I followed all the directions thouroghly from the web page and it came out nice, it played fine on WMA and WinDVD. So I went to burn and first it said you cannot use this SVCD plugin its a beta version please go to nero.com to purchase plugin. I got it from my friend and installed it and i went to burn and no error. I put it in my dvd player and it said cannot play disc. My friend has a sony dvd player not even close to being nice as mine and when he burns them there fine. Why? I used Sony media and a sony writer and my vcd's play great.

2. If you take a look here:
http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDname=&DVDselect=Sony&Submit=Search&Search=Search
you will see that many Sony Players do not play SVCD. I believe some can be persuaded to do so by using the "vcd header trick". Search the forum for details on this.

I read all the good press on the Sony 715. Does anyone out there use "DVD Picture Show" by Ulead. I burned some vcd's with my photos and cannot find a player that will play them with the menus. Ulead says that u need win dvd or some other software. That applys to vcd's. Could anyone out there advise me. I need to buy a tabletop dvd and I prefer Sony. I would also like to ask if they make any good multi disc machines which are compatable with my vcd's. I also use Pinnicle to burn my dvd+rw's
Thanks much
