  1. Hello
I'm looking for a way to capture the video that is directly feeding into my computer monitor. I intend to capture scenes from gameplay and integrate them into shorts. Does anybody know how to go about doing this?

Generally 2 ways - a screen recorder such as Camtasia or using a scan converter with S or component out and going to a vcr, camcorder with analog in or a capture card on a second PC. I work at a college and for the best quality screen captures we use a Scan Do converter with component out into a DVCam recorder with component in. Once you have the dvcam tape you can process as you would any other dv footage.

Yes, a scan converter like the AverKey Gold works very well. It takes your monitor digital siganl in and outputs NTSC analog composite video.
These things cost between $100 and $200. No problems, no hassle. Scan converters are sold in most computer superstores and even many smaller computer stores, and they're the only way to go.
