  1. Ill give this a try...

Im using a Samsung HI-8 video camera and connected it to my ASUS V8420 Deluxe card with a 4 pin s-video cabel, but i get no sound.

the picture comes out fine and ive tryed all sorts of programs, from ASUS own programs to Premiere and VirtualDub.
Now... im totally new to this so it might just be something i forgot to do or connect, but i would be very happy for all the suggestions i can get. even if it is "sorry dude you cant get sound and video with that shitty card"

    cheers

    isnt s-video, video only?

  3. Yes S-video only carries the video signal not the audio. You need to connect up a pair of rca leads (assuming your camcorder is stereo, only 1 lead if its mono) for the audio

could it be soemthing im missing in the actual setup.. some prefs i should use?

  6. You must be connecting something other than s-video to your tv to get sound. Like I say if its stereo you will probrably have a pair of rca(phono) connectors, 1 red, 1 white.

  7. If you have a white and a yellow, then it is mono. The yellow is another video cable so if you have s-video connected you dont need to use that. Just connect the white rca cable for mono audio.
