  1. Tired orf ripping VCD's...quality isn't good enough for me. Looking to purchase a DVD burner. I plan on burning my DV digital camera to DVD, aswell as backing up some of my DVD and VCR movies. With all the new writers out there eg. +rw, -RW, R....which one is the best and most compliant with stand alone DVD players. which offers software to burn to DVD format.

    DRU500A.

It burns both +RW and -RW

U can use DVD+RW which burn faster and DVD-R, which all comptuer dvd-roms r required to be able to read

Pioneer 04/104,DVD-R/W. I wouldn't touch a multi -function drive with a 10 foot pole, especially one made by Sony.

DVD-RW are still pretty expensive and they are not absolutely necessary for troubleshooting. What I do is create an ISO disc image on my hard drive, then mount this as a virtual DVD drive using Daemon tools. You can then play the ISO on your PC as if it was a DVD-R

  6. I recently went for the pioneer 104. Great piece of kit, A bit slow but I can't fault anything else. Media is a LOT cheaper than +R/W
