  1. I have a computer with an older (~1999) ATI Hardware DVD decoder. It was packaged with the Cinemaster C 3 WDM driver and playback software. It has video out ports that function when playing back DVDs from the comps DVD Drive (NEC DV-5500A). Is it possible to somehow use the video out when playing back videos from my HD (any format, through any software). I use PowerDVD for most of my playback....

    Thanks much
    Matt

  3. Well, the player you are using is a dedicated MPEG2 decoder, so you should be able to use it to play VCD and SVCD files (or any other MPEG2, as well as MPEG1 videos) from your hard drive. But unless there is a specific app out there (I haven't seen one) that will let you play other formats, I think you're out of luck. There is a program like this for the Hollywood Plus, another dedicated MPEG2 decoder, that allows it to output (but not decode internally) DivX files, but it uses a completely different decoding engine.

    Good Luck,

    Prospero
