My standalone DVD player is listed as cdrw compatible. Even though cd blanks are rather cheap these days, many times I want to watch a cam movie on the tv. But I really do not want to add the cam movie to my collection of vcds. Since my dvd player is cdrw compatible, can i watch the vcd and then re use it by erasing it and re-recording it? Thanks in advance.

Just because it is CDRW compatible does not mean it is VCD or SVCD compatible. Look at the players area or test for yourself. The test clips on this site can be burned onto your disc and tested & erased. Shouldn't take too long.
