Now i use tmp to do svcds 2pass etc....
But i keep reading that CCE does the encoding faster thatn tmpgenc,is this true and is the quality of the video just as good as tmp.Aslo which version of CCE would i need to encode svcds for dvd,as the version i downloaded would only let me convert .avi or quicktime movie files.
I use tmpgenc plus at the mo,but boy does it take its time.Bout 3:30 - 4:00 to convert 55 mins of movie ripped fromdvd to svcd.

In my opinion, cce does a better job encoding than TMPGENC. The price tag of CCE is around $10K to do variable bit rate ($250 for the lite version). I personally use CCE in conjunction with DVD2SVCD to backup my DVD's. With the full version of CCE, you can do more than 2 passes (TMPGENC is limited to 2 pass) to get a better quality. Also, CCE is much faster than TMPGENC.

CCE is much faster with 2-3 pass VBR. TMPG's CQ mode is not much slower, but the filesize is not easily predictable. As to quality, I am very happy with CCE, TMPG 2-pass VBR and TMPG CQ. There may be a difference, but it is not obvious to my eyes! If you want more info PM me.

Try TMPEG and the latest DVD2SVCD version ( 1.1.0 Build 1 RC4 ) with new internal file size prediction algorithm. The final file size is now predicted very closely. Get it here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=90bda1cf310ebff67b634404bc561145&threadid=3689...0&pagenumber=1

tmpgenc can produce results very close or better in some cases and with some sources than CCE ...
cce dos an excellent job though also .. and is faster ..
factor in the cost (and extra functions built in) and tmpgenc wins hands down
