I have just upgraded to Pentium IV and the ATI's AIW Hercules (Radeon 8500) Card. So far, with the AIW 128 Rage Card, there used to be a Multimedia Capture Drive besides the Rage Theatre Capture Driver and VirtualDub accepted it for capture operation. When I tried to open VirtualDub after installing the Radeon 8500, VirtualDub crashed.
One could capture with ATI's capture software but that saves the file directly in MPEG-2 format with mpg extension. With VirtualDub AVI file, I was encoding it into mpg format using Tsunami MPEG Encoder. And those TMPEG encoded files were acceptable to Roxio for burning into a VCD or SuperVCD. Will the ATI MMC 7.5 captured and mpg encoded files be directly usable for making a VCD or SuperVCD? Or would they need some kind of conversion to make them usable for burning into a VCD/ SuperVCD? If they can be directly used, with which software Nero Ahead or Roxio WinOnCD?
The Radeon 8500 is also unable to scan all the cable TV channels in India.
Any solution for this? Of course I am using the driver which came with the
Radeon 8500 Card on a CD. Are there later versions which have corrected any of the problems? Which official or rage Underground version would enable me to use VirtualDub back again?
