    When encoding from divx to dvd format using CCE, can you use VBR or do you have to use CBR. So it shall work correctly on the standalone dvd player.

    Commercial DVD movies are nearly all encoded using VBR. It is not a problem with standalone DVD players. Encode in VBR in order to get more movie on the disk for a given bitrate/quality level.
