  1. What could i do to be able to convert my extracted .vob files to files that i would be able to import into DVDSP ?

i may need to encode them to a different format to make them smaller too, what would i use to do that?

    thanx

  2. To make a VOB importable into DVDSP you need to demux the VOB first (split it into seperate audio and video files). You need a program called bbdemux to do it. You can get it here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/macbbdemux/

Sometimes when you try and drop the video file into the DVDSP Assets window you will get the dreaded "Bad format" error. When this happens you need to run the video file through a program called MPEGAppend. This will make the timecode in the video file compliant with DVDSP. You can get a 7day trial of MPEGAppend for OS X here: http://homepage.mac.com/DVD_SP_Helper/Commerical/MAOSuX.html

The OS9 version of MPEGAppend is free: http://homepage.mac.com/DVD_SP_Helper/Download/Download.html

I believe that DVDSP only accepts MPEG2 video so you don't want to encode it to another format. To make the video smaller you want to re-encode the video at a lower bitrate. The only way I know to do this and still keep everything in sync is to use QT Pro with the MPEG-2 export component (which gets installed when you intall DVDSP). There's a trick you can do to get QT to let you export MPEG-2 to MPEG-2 (it normally doesn't let you do it). It involves making a black pic the same size as your movie, opening that in QT, and then dragging in your movie on top of it. Once you get the video loaded in QT you just export to MPEG-2 and lower the bitrate setting.
