  2. If it shuts down your computer when its done converting is because you might have a box check marked saying something like would you like your computer to shutdown after converting. That happened to me once.

  6. How many mb of memory do you have, because if you overload your memory you will get a blue screen and it will shut down and maybe restart, sometimes. When you go to convert exit all your programsand the ones in your system tray and shut off your screensaver. I've heard of people saying that when your screen saver comes on it sucks up you system file memory. TMPGENC takes all your CPU and system memory when in use.

  7. Had the same problem when I first started out. After I replaced my Heatsync/fan combo, no more shut down.

  8. In XP there is an option (I believe somewhere in Admin, but don't remember) to not automatically reboot after a severe error. Once set, you will get a blue screen with problem details rather than a shutdown/reboot.

  9. If it's heat releated, it will still shut down. IT's the onboard thermal sensor shutting the system down.

  10. It doesn't reboot the computer - it just shuts down. I'm thinking it may be heat related. I'm running Win XP with 256 RAM. I haven't had problems up until recently.

It's a laptop, so if the problem is heat related, I'll just start it to encoding and put it in the freezer to finish.

LOL - actually I'm gonna reformat and start over and see if it fixes. Thanks for the input everybody.

Freezer could damage other components because they're not rated to operate at that temp. Try the fridge instead
