Hi.
Yes I'm a Newbie, but who understands why a DVD-R can not be played in my SEG DVD 1000 Stand alone Player although 3 different Compatibility List ( 1 of them is vcdhelp.com) say that it can.
I already tried 2 different kinds of Disks and upgraded my Firmware. No Success!
Who can explain me why?
Who has a SEG DVD 1000? Please contact me!!
Thanks...

theres alot of factors that goes into consideration when a certain media doesnt play in your dvd player and compatibility list says it plays.
some dvd players are sensitive to which brands of discs they play as well as what program created the disc
check the vcdhelp forum comments on your standalone player and see if people reported which brands of dvd-r's played on theirs or even what program they used to burn the dvd-r
i personally havent had any problems with the brand of dvd-r i use but when i used nero to burn my dvd-r the disc wouldnt play in my xbox......but ever since i used prassi primo dvd the dvd-r's playin everything i put them into including my xbox
u need tpo collaborate with people that have the same standalone dvd player that u have
just something to think aboutcheck out http://www.geocities.com/eatin_sammiches/sprucecreations.html to download additonal buttons and backgrounds for SPRUCE-UP menu creation -
What software did you use to burn your DVD-R ???.
If it was NERO, then that could be the Problem, FOR ME and i MEAN FOR ME, NERO is F**king crap when it comes to burning DVD-R's.
Now i use Prassi PrimoDVD and have no problems whatsoever in Burning DVD-R's and playing them.
I would suggest that you try different DVD Burning software to see what one work's for you, even try the Authoring Software as they are able to burn to DVD-R as well. -
I used Nero Burning Rom. It worked perfectly with the Player of a friend of mine!

well nero maybe a good program but other coments made earlier are true!!! I had to use VOB instant cd/dvd to get a dvdr to work in the cyberhome player & an eclipse player! my experiance with nero is shocking as most of the time it gives U the file relocation error when importing vobs. I would suggest buying vob OEM as its cheap & for only £9.99 from a suplier in the UK it aint bad really, just would not use it for vcd/svcd

Another factor is source material. I have found that most desktop players that play DVD-R's from ripped DVD movies will not play DVD-Rs from DV sources. This appears to be the case even though exactly the same encoding, authoring and burning software is used. This seems to be a bigger factor than which media is used. Ironically, many "cheap" players like the Apex AD-1500 will play anything thrown at them.
