  1. Can somebody show me how to convert a .avi file to mpeg-2 SVCD. ??? I can do it using TMPGenc. When i import the .avi into TMP. It said that..."unsupported format" but I did alot of avi to mpeg convert before and there's no problem.. Maybe it's the way how Formula 51.avi was saved ???

    If you get an error message when opening the video or audio like file unsupported
    or you get an empty(black) video preview window
    or the video look wierd in the video preview window like green or purple or pink
    Be sure that you have installed the DivX Codecs (both DivX 3.11, 4 and 5) and also try with the Nimo Codec Pack. If that does not work try to change the codec reader settings in TMPGEnc under Option->Environmental settings->VFAPI plug-in and right click on the DirectShow Multimedia File Reader and increase the priority to 1 or 2 and try open the video.

  3. Hi..thanks for the reply...i got divx and started to encode..but after 6% encoding my .mpg files is 286meg already...how can that be....I used the default settings in TTMPG. The original avi file can fit on one cd. Is there a way for me to encode that same avi about 700 meg into the same size mpeg ?

    VCD = 10MB/minute
    SVCD = ~15-20MB/Minute

    You do the math.

    You can shrink down mpeg, but it's no longer a standard and may not play back properly on standalone DVD players.

    Go back to the AVI. In Virtual Dub, select Video-->Scan video stream for errors.
