    When ripping a dvd it tells you if it is 16:9 or 4:3. The question I really have is on widescreen how can you tell if it 1.85:1 or 2.25:1 or 1.77:1 I am using clad to rip with.

    in terms of dvd2avi and tmpgenc, the only aspect ratios are 16:9 and 4:3. don't ever trust ripping proggies such as smartripper to tell you the source aspect ratio...

    the most reliable is dvd2avi.
