  1. ok here my situation:
    i have a dvd of one of my favorite movies - it comes only with english audio
    i have the vhs with the german language i prefer...

    is it possible to take the dvd-video and combine it with the vhs-audio to a svcd?

    whats the best way (tmp enc, freeware-tools...)?

  2. Of course You can. But its a bit of work.
    Using DVD2AVI you can rip the video to create a d2v file.

    Use any audio recording software to record your audio from VHS. Connect your VHS VCR/VCP audio out to sound card in.
    You can save this as a WAV file.

    Use AviSynth and create a script which includes the D2v file combined with the WAV file you created. Refer Avisynth guides.

    Open this .AVS file in Virtual dub and save a small section as AVI and verify if the sync is OK. This is the hardest part. You will need to do a lot of trial and error till the audio and video are in sync.

    Once this is done, frame serve to TMPGEnc and create your MPEG file.

    as dinesh says -- getting it in sync can be almost impossble sometimes .. even for the fact that it may be slightly edited different and playback speed may be slightly off on the vcr .. and also add the fact that the frame rate of the two formats are different ...
