Generally speaking what would be better? A capture card or a bridge. All would be in a reasonable price range, say $300 or less. Any good suggestions on what I should get? My sources would be cable TV not digital cable, and from a Sony Handycam. Both would be analog. the Handycam uses Hi8 8mm tapes. Both sources are NTSC. Any good suggestions on what I should get or not get? Hauppauge seems interesting, or would Dazzle bridges be good? Then again, Hauppauge has TV tuners too.

Have a look at this card . It may suit your needs.

Using this card will offer the same advantages as the dazzle bridge (from what the spec sheet reveals)
You could go one step further and run the VCR through it for TV captures in a DV format of `3.7Mb/sec.

ARRRRR!
No bridge!
Use the canopus or Datavideo DAC-100.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?
