  1. Have had Sylvania DV2000 player for long time now, and never had problems with it. It will read almost anything. But I just bought my daughter 'Beauty and the Beast' and the player will not read it. It just comes up with 'no disc' It will read the second disc with the special features, but not the movie.
Also, I just borrowed 'Murder by Numbers' and it is doing the same thing. Sometimes it will recognize the disc but it plays the movie and it is all blocky and green and you can't see the picture.
What could be going on? Is something different with the newer DVD's?

  2. I had a cyberhome dvdplayer that done this & all I done was clean the laser on the unit & it workeed fine for a while (cd lens cleaner). If it is out of warranty U can open the player & clear the laser manually with compressed air buy lowing the dust off the lens.

    Kev!

  3. I tried something last night...I can play Beauty and the Beast in my computer, and Murder by Numbers,so I took my dvd drive out of my computer and plugged it into the cable inside the dvd player, and it worked perfectly with Beauty and the Beast. So I tried theMurder by Numbers dvd and it did the same thing(green pixellated screen) funny thing is Murder by Numbers worked in that same drive in the computer. So it must be a problem with the encoder???
