hi therei'm quite new to this so i hope i dont upset anyone!
i am trying to make a vcd out of a file myhome.dvx and it says it is an avi file,i thought i needed TMPGEnc to encode it to mpeg but when i try and opn it in this program it says unsupported format?
i also have nero 5.5 for burning it to cd when encoded ...is this ok?
thanx 4 any help...i'm sure someone will be able to help mebye 4 now.

Looks like you need to install DivX codecs (look at the tools section on the left). Basically if the file is a DivX, the DivX-codecs are installed and you can watch the film using eg Media Player then TMPGEnc will be able to open the file and convert it to MPEG1 or 2. Maybe TMPGEnc is confused that the file has a .dvx extension which it doesn't recognise. Rename it to .avi to be sure.
