  1. ok heres the stats

    encoding file from AC3 audio to mpeg2 by this proccess -

    first take the file and run it through compress.exe to make a PCM file out of it. at this point the audio sound fine- the PCM sounds just as good as the AC3.

    then it is encoded to mpeg2 with tmpgenc plus. after this is done the audio sounds very tinny and slightly distorted .

    if anyone has experience with this problem I would greatly appreciate any help

    Try another audio encoder, you can use toolame with tmpgenc for example

    If your PCM file is at 48kHz you should also use an external tool to convert it to 44.1kHz. tmpgenc can use ssrc, or you can use ssrc or besweet to do it manually before encoding.
