  1. Hi! I have read in this board that a BT878 chip based board is capable of capturing 768x576 video, but I can't seem to do this properly, with any program! I have tried Premiere, Pinnacle studio, ATV2000, and now VirtualDub, and still nothing!

I have Windows XP running on a P3 550 Mhz w/ 384 Mb RAM, w/ a 40 gb hd for capturing video; also, I have the prolink pixelview playTV pro (my card) XP drivers running the card.

When I try to change the format to anything higher than x288 (like 640x480, or 720x576) , VirtualDub returns "Error 418: Unsupported video format", or "Error 425: Error: Out of memory for video buffers" when I try to capture in those resolutions.

    Any suggestions? thanks!

  2. You need different drivers. Get the btwincap drivers from: http://btwincap.sourceforge.net

    That should do the trick

  3. hello again! well, it solved the video format problem, but now comes the big problem!
The video capture I make, at 720x576 PAL, using VirtualDub, is very jerky! That is, the capture quality just isn't good enough!

    any suggestions?

    thanks!

add: could you please clarify me if the 720x576 captured video is supposed to have a perfect "still" image or if the horizontal lines displacement are normal (i read somewhere they were)

  4. Hi zemanel752.

I have an P3 500 and have problems capturing high resolutions.
What you need is an better CPU.

My solution is to capture in 352x288 with both fild enabeld, using PIC Mjpeg codec at 19 in quality setting.

Then i use DVD2SVCD (Avi2SVCD) with simple resize.

I'am wery satisfyed with the quality.

While that will help, it isn't a necessity. I can cap 720x480 on a celeron 366 if I don't compress. But that would gobble up your 40GB hard drive in minutes probably. I'm unsure where your jerkiness is coming from. My stuff comes out great. I have been told however to never cap at anything less than XXX by 480 (NTSC) since it would drop one of the fields.
