I followed the guide in the newbie section. I'm using the latest VirtualDub
and tried playing back the AVI file in Media Player 7.1. Video Ok but only a hum for the sound.

I also noticed that the volume meter was all the way to the left (i.e lowest)
    in VirtualDub.
I was capturing from my analog camcorder.
    2 things:

    1) the RCA jacks from my camcorder - the yellow video cable fits right in the TV98 card, but the white audio cable doesn't look like it goes into the audio jack on the card. It fits very loosly and the connector isn't the same as the video jack. This is obviously my 1st issue. What kind of adapter do I need? (I do have the cable from the TV98 card to the sound card)

    2) From reading the comments on the Aver TV98 in the capture card section, a few people talk about going into the multimedia settings in control panel and selecting 'line in' as the recording source. I have a Crystal SoundFusion 4 ch sound card (came out around 2000 I think), and under Multimedia in control panel, the preferred device under audio reads
'Crystal SoundFusion (1)', but the microphone icon under 'recording' isn't highlighted nor is the 'advanced properties' button. How do I make 'line in' as the recording source?

    thanks for any help.

thanks for that tip - know anything about the adapter?
Also I want to burn the camcorder video to a VCD or SVCD.
PowerVCR2 good for that 2 or only playing it on a PC?
    thanks

1 other followup - Cyberlink shows it for $129 - which is waaaay above my budget. Are older versions available anywhere or is that the only choice?

Ok I have the adapter, now I hear the audio thru my speakers when I play a camcorder tape, but still no audio when I replay the AVI file.
There's no movement on the volume meter display. The sound is plugged directly into the line in on the sound card (Crystal SoundFusion)

Does anyone know about selecting 'line in' as the recording source on Control Panel? The recording button isn't hightlighted to click on.
    anyone????

    FYI to anyone reading this
My sound card has a line in jack and a microphone jack.
For kicks I plugged into the mic jack and lo & behold I
got audio. If anyone has info on enabling the line in (I do have the mute button off in the master volume control box) I'd appreciate whatever info is available.
