    KSloan,
I'm thinking of getting one myself and found the reviews at this url http://eurekamovies.com/movies.cfm?Product_ID=1844 to be helpful. There is a couple dozen reviews at least and there seems to be more good than bad and some people get real specific.
I'm deciding between the NAPA and the Supertek MP-2001V which also plays DVCDs(If anyone wants to explain what they are I'd be happy to listen). Good luck with your purchase and if you don't mind maybe you can post your experience.

  4. There have been numerous bad reports from owners of the NAPA so I suggest that you have a search of the forums for their comments.

Similarly, "DVCD" has been answered previously. If the post hasn't expired, it should still be around.

    Regards.

(This link is hard to get to...I had to go back and stop the site from jumping to the next link.)

#14 was what made me sell it. I didn't know. I thought it was broken.

NAPA - The Most Flexible Media Player yet - FAQ Sheet

    Napa DAV311 FAQ's

    1. Why does my Napa not charge?

On a few of the earlier models, the battery will not charge if the hold feature has been enabled.

    2. I only get sound when connected to a TV watching VCD's

The VCD feature will only work if the AC adapter is connected, ensure this is connected.

    3. Does it support Multi session CDs?

The Napa will only read closed CDs, a multi session CD will not be completely seen.

    4. Does the Napa read MP3 stored in different folders (directories)?

Yes, it will scan the entire CD for MP3s and number them in the order they were burnt onto the CD.

    5. Does the Napa read ID tags?

The Napa does not have provision to read Ids, it will only number the tracks.

    6. What MP3 Bit rate does the Napa support?

The Napa will read everything 96Kb and above, this includes variable bit rate MP3s.

    7. How long can I expect the batteries to last?

The battery generally lasts for about 3 hours, depending on volume.

    8. How long does it take to charge up from flat?

It usually takes around 4 hours from completely flat.

    9. Can it use normal batteries?

The Napa uses a unique battery designed for the Napa. Replacement batteries are available.

    10. How do I enable Anti-Skip (ESP)?

This is documented in the manual, although not very clearly. To enable the ESP press the mode button twice and then the track skip forward button. The letter "A" will appear in front on the track time to indicate it has been enabled. You can also use the digest button on the remote control to do the same.

    11. How long is the ESP?

The ESP feature is between 5-10 Seconds on Audio CD and 20-25 Seconds on MP3 CDs.

    12. What are Video CDs?

Video CDs are a fairly old format for films. The quality is not as good as DVDs, its comparable to VHS video. Films usually come on 2 CDs and can be purchased from various locations, including websites.

    13. Why does my Napa spin the CD but not play?

If the batteries are in a low state, the unit will fail to play CD's. The motor will spin the CD around and the display will just show "ON". Recharging the battery will fix this problem.

    14. Why are VCD pictures black/white or jumping?

If the format (NTSC/PAL) is set incorrectly, the image will be intermittent. Use the P/N button to change between PAL and NTSC.

    15. Why is the Remote control intermittent?

Ensure the remote is being used within 7 meters. Ensure the battery for the remote is not running low.
