  1. Nero is taking over a very long time to burn a VCD, the encoding process takes over almost 2 hours, I'm buring at 40x. Is there any way to speed things up?

something is wrong with your procedure. normally nero wont take that long to burn a vcd. i was able to burn with nero a vcd in about 15~20 mins. how about your MPEG-1, is it std VCD specs(white book)? if not then maybe nero is re-encoding your MPEG1 to VCD std format. there is an option that disables nero to check your MPEG. something like "create standard compliant cd" - disable it. but note that with it disabled, you may have some problem playing your vcd.

  3. Definately sounds like nero is reencoding the mpeg file because it is not within VCD specs. I burn at 24X and for a 60min VCD this takes just over 3 minutes.

I think your cd writer is not working well, not Nero. I use nero for burning my vcds (790 mb vcd) in less than 10 min. be it complaint or not.

  5. It's buring just fine when I copy a VCD to VCD, but when I download something off the net and burn it, it takes a very long time. I know it's not my burning it's only a few months old with very little use.

  6. If it is Mpeg1/2 you are downloading off the net then guys are right - most likely your Nero is re-encoding the file to compliant format as a lot of fileson the web aren't standard VCD/SVCD. I presume you are not trying to burn AVI as VCD...

  7. In fact I thin it is re-encoding, is there any way to speed this up? like using another software or something?

  8. Try TMPGEnc to re-encode to compliant VCD/SVCD, the results will be better than with Nero - don't know about speed though, that depends on the speed of your processor and on how far the file actually is from the standard.

hey dannie, you can do the xvcd mentioned by ricardo2 by just de-selecting the standard compliant option. no re-encoding will be done.
