  1. I had captured two DV tapes thru IEEE1392 by Power director Pro 2.5. Everytime I tried to burn a DVD, the captured mpeg file size (5000Kbps and two files size are about 2.3GB each) would increase to more than 4.7GB. I also tried to burn by Ulead DVD workshop trial version. I had chose the 4000Kbps, but the size was still larger than 4.7GB.

Is it truely possible to make a 2 hrs DVD?

It most certainly is. I would suggest encoding to mpeg-2 DVD compliant with TmpGenc. Use the bitrate calculator in the tools section for accurate numbers but for two hours, using 2-pass VBR you probably want the average at 4000, max 8000, min 2000. Also, when authoring, ensure you use a an authoring package that will accept .mp2 audio (Ulead or Dazzle authoring packages do this as do others I am sure) or will convert your audio to .ac3 (DVDit PE 2.5). Be careful to make sure that PCM audio is not selected as this will graetly increase the file size.

If I remember correctly, PowerDirector only encodes in CBR. At 5Mbps for 2 hours (7200 secs), this will yield a 4.5GByte file. There is 100 to 120MBytes of navigational overhead for a file this size, so your video file alone is over 4.6GBytes, leaving less than 100MBytes for your audio. If you are using uncompressed mono PCM, the audio will be about 750MBytes long. A compressed audio (mono) can be as small as 80-90MBytes. If you want a complex menu structure, this will also eat up disk space.

Maybe if you gave more information.
