  1. After using ReMpeg2 to shrink the movie "The Fast and the Furious" so I can get both .ac3 and .dts files on one disk I have found that I cannot get rid of the blockiness from the film after I have used ReMpeg2. The original source file after using Smartripper (.m2v) is fine. But again after using ReMpeg2 I get blockies in the film. Any suggestions?

ReMpeg doesn't produce very good results.
You'll get much better results using multipass vbr in TMPGEnc or Cinema Craft

That is not really the problem with ReMpeg...

If your resultant file has blockiness the problem may be that you have multiple PGC's in your VOB's. When ReMPEG analyze your VOB before encoding, it makes a template using the beginning of the VOB's as sample. If the beginning of the movie is at a diferent rate of the rest of the file, the other part of the movie will be encoded incorrectly... Check with Ifoedit, how many PGC's does your movie have before encoding. Sometimes in the VOB files, before the movie, there is added 1 or 2 seconds of black screen that may be taken by ReMpeg as the movie itself...

  4. How do I get rid of the first 1 to 2 seconds of the beginning of the movie?
Please send link to the article. I have been trying to figure it out but seem to be going nowhere.

You can use "ChopperXP" to remove the black segment of your first VOB file. You can download it at this site or at Doom9's...
