Hi,
I have some Video8 PAL home movies which I want to convert to SVCD.
My player Apex 1200 supports playback of PAL SVCD on NTSC tv, but I am wondering maybe it would be better to convert PAL to NTSC using PC, assuming that DVD player has to do the conversion in realtime, whereas on PC I can do it offline, so the quality will be better.
What should I do?
Thanks!

That depends,
in the UK PAL TV's support PAL60, which is PAL at 60Hz. This means that when we play NTSC material the DVD player only does colour conversion and not frame rate conversion.
If similarly your set will do NTSC at 50Hz then you would probably be better letting your DVD do the conversion.
My advice would be to try a small amount of material, and see how it turns out.
