  1. I have read all of the guides and i followed it to a tee. I used virtual dub, and tmpgenc, and had no problems encoding or burning the vcd. When i played it in my dvd player (that plays vcd's) i get a black screen and just sound no video. What am i doing wrong?

    Close the wizard. Loadthe video as usual. Select Load and choose the VCD template for your system. Select Start. Let me know how it went.

    Sure it does. The Load button is at the bottom of the main screen if you close the wizard. To load the video, use the Video Source: "Browse" button.

  7. I am using the video+audio template. The specs on the bottom line are

    I should have been clearer. If you select Load, the templates appear. They say things like"DVD (NTSC).mcf", etc. You select the one for the final product you want to make. The video + audio you mentioned is the Stream type so leave it as you found it.

    Now comes the easy part. Go to Options-->Environmental Settings, VFAPI Plug in tab. Right click over the Direct Show Multimedia File Reader and select "Higher Priority" until Priority is higher than 2. Then try to process your video.

  9. Obviously you are making XVCD instead of VCD and that might be the cause of no video. I suggest follow what tommy told " Load default videoCD (ntsc) template. Or if you'd prefer to use wizard then you have to set to VCD standard spec.

    Resolution = 352x240 (ntsc)
    video bitrate = CBR 1150 kbit/sec
    audio = 441000Hz@224kbps
