  1. Ok, I am new to the DVD field, so I need some help. I purchased a Samsung DVD-M301. I tried connecting it last name, but to no avial. I have a technics reciever SA-1000 (or something like that, it's only a few months old). I was able to get the audio (MP3s, CDR, CD, etc even the audio portion of the DVDs) to work, but I can not get the video to play through to the TV. The movies are playing on the DVD, I just can't see them on the screen or get the TV to recognize the DVD player. So, I know that the problem is with getting the video out to play through my TV. I have a very old TV. Probably 10 years old. It has RCA ins and outs and a yellow video in.

My technics has tons of ins and outs. DVD.VCR1,2 connects. It makes no difference where I put the audio for the DVD in the technics it plays fine. Howwever, I can't get the video to play for the life of me.

OK, How do I get the DVD video signal to my TV if I don't have an S-video in on the TV. Can I use the yellow video in and how? Thanks

BTW, the VCR plays fine, but that is connected through the cable in/out of the TV and VCR.

I am sure there are people with older TVs playing DVDs out there, please help.

  2. Your Technics Receiver probably has a S-video out labeled "monitor" or something like that. If so you might be able to connect S-video,audio left right and digital out of your DVD player to your AV receiver. If you have a VCR, connect it to the AV receiver using a SCART to Cinch converter (Out). Use a S-video lead between the receiver and TV. This way your TV will act as a monitor only showing video. All audio comes from the receiver.
This is the setup I have (from the top of my head). I hope it's clear the way I described it here.

  3. My Technics has an S-video out, but my TV does not. could I use the other monitor out on the receiver which is an RCA yellow plug to the TV audio (yellow plug)? The receiver I have is an SA-DX1040. It is very modern digital outs/in, etc. But, I believe the TV is the problem Only RCA in/outs red, white, and yellow. No S-video in.

  4. It was quite a simple problem. I had everyting connected, but the TV being 12 years old had the remote replaced several years back. I had to find a remote that would turn on the aux input, so the TV would recognize the DVD player. Everything is playing wonderfully now. The sound is awesome as played through the Technics receiver, Sony Sub, Sharp, and KHL spkrs. Thanks.
