I have a Pinnacle DC-10 plus capture card and Studio version 7. I am going to use Nero to burn the VCD's with. I am not looking to do anything real fancy. I just want to know what are the best setting on this software to get the best looking VCD to play on my DVD player. If anybody would like to share their expertise or experiences with these particular softwares, I would gratly appreciate it. I would like to convert all of my videos to VCD in the best resolution possible. I thank you.

I have same card and software.....I can only capture with it to avi and not with any ov the fancy codecs (huffy...divx) that others sugest....It only works with pinnacles'...And the files are huge
So I set capture format on custom and set bitrates to slightly higher than required for VCD...and then convert the avi's using TMPG to VCD compatable mpeg1 files.
I am testing my card right now to see if it works with Uleads DVD workshop....which looks to me to be less crash happy than Studio 7...let you know if it works ok. -
It will also save to MPEG files. Does anybody think I should invest in a better capture card or is the pinnacle card good enough for my purposes?

MaDmiZe : mine dc10 works fine with all the Ulead products (Media Studio Pro, Video Studio, DVD Workshop), and it never hangs making
movie like in Studio 7. -
hey Rody,
Are you able to make high quality VCD's?. What kind of burning software do you use and are there any special settings you use? -
I don't think there is anything wrong with the card...its better than most...thats why I bought mine...And I have done some great capturing with it...I have used the composite in and the s-video in...from home video to standard vhs movies...
I never got mine to work with virtual dub...SO I am glad that Rody says it will work with Ulead products...cause the studio7 software is flaky....easy to use....lots of features.....just crashes alot for me. If you use it to edit...save often. -
brentconn, I capture with Virtual Dub (running in Win ME) in 320 x 240, in AVI (so I can watch in PC because at 352 x 240 it looks distorted), and edit in Video Studio 6, make movie NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps) Frame-based MPEG files 24 Bits, 352 x 240, 29.97 fps (Video CD-NTSC). I also tried Media Studio Pro, it works Ok but difficult to edit.
I burned with Easy CD creator 5. For me the quality it's similar to VHS or better in mine standalone DVD player (Phillips 703).
For photos I'm using Ulead DVD picture show, it's very simple to use and fast.
Regards.
