  1. hello,

hopefully someone can help me with this problem.

i'd like to capture some still images from a dvd. i'm using WinDVD software on my laptop. i would press together
[ALT] + [Print Screen] and then i would paste that image on my PhotoImpact software.

my problem is that the image is black. it doesn't capture at all!!!

i have decreased and disabled the hardware graphics accelerator but it still didn't work.

    anyone have any suggestions?

  2. Generally, you don't need to press PRTSCreen to capture frames for software player. They have built-in capture functions. I don't use WINDVD, so I don't know how it captures. For PowerDVD, all you need to do is press "c" when it's playing, frames are captured and saved in a folder you choose.

  3. hello,

    thank you for your reply.

for my photo editing software, it has a screen capture hotkey such as F11 to capture images but it displays the images as black.

as for my WinDVD software, the help forum for the software says that i have to press the 'P' key to capture images from the DVD. unfortunately, when i press the 'P' key, it doesn't capture any images at all.

so, have you actually tried PowerDVD? does the images turn out black or is it actually the images you want? if it works for you, then i may try that software out.

    thanks,

  4. I have been using PowerDVD XP for a while. It is also a wonderful multimedia player, besides playing DVD. Its capture function is powerful and flexible. You can capture frames with original resolution or size of active window, you save them to files automatically or copy it to clipboard. I use it mainly to copy DVD menus and graphics for use in SVCD menu creation.

As for WinDVD, maybe you didn't configure your capture settings right. Read Help file in WinDVD and search for capture.....

  5. Hello,

Again, thanks for the reply to my other questions regarding PowerDVD.

I went on the net and decided to download the trial version to see if the software allowed me to capture properly.

    Lo and behold, it did!!!

As you have mentioned, the capture quality is perfect and the size is the original widescreen so my image has became an awesome gorgeous wallpaper.

I'm going to be uninstalling WinDVD. PowerDVD is just tooo great... also, the movie video quality is crisper than the other software.

Now, I just gotta get the full version to that!

    Thanks!!

    d.t.
