I'm really new . presently I use an adobe premire 5 to edit my movie, but i'm lost my patient, its old version and cannot convert to mpg directly. The setting only for SVCD and not VCD.
    1. Can this adobe upgraded to new version - free or..
    2. Can anyone suggest more friendly (easy to use ...) software that can work with capture card DV500 pinnacle.

If you have a basic understanding of Premiere, then get Ulead's MediaStudio Pro DC... It's what I use to capture, edit and export to MPEG2. Easy to do basic editing, but one you get the hang of it... You can do some really cool stuff...

They have a Trial Version you can download and see 4 yourself...

    I second Vegas Video 3.0.

I use it to capture, edit and encode. Very nice package and pretty easy as well.

  5. I use Premiere 6.5 and this is a very nice piece of software. The new MPEG Encoding, Real-Time Preview and New Titler make it currently the best Editor on the Windows platform in my opinion.

Plus it probably has the most supported cards, DV devices and a wealth of great plugins available to it.

I've used most of the others, and whilst they all have their good points, imho, nothing beats Premiere on the Windows platform. Mac is another question altogether
