  1. I am looking to buy a DVD writer and had been very impressed with the Pioneer DVR-104 but the price was what was holding me back. Now I have been offered the Asus DVR-104 at about 15% less and the price is acceptable. However unlike for the Pioneer, I can find almost no reviews or user feedback for the Asus, and I would appreciate very much if any user of the Asus could tell me how they have been faring with that.

Is the Asus DVR-104 EXACTLY the same as the Pioneer DVR-104?
What about software, is even the software the same as for the Pioneer?

What is the difference (software) between Pioneer A04 and Pioneer DVR-104? I take it that Asus don't have a version of the Pioneer A04?

    Thanks in advance,

    Rick

Having just read the specs on it from the Asus website

    http://www.asus.com.tw/optical/dvr-104/overview.htm

It's very interesting to see that it has same feature's as the Pioneer A-104, leading me to beleive that it might be just a Pioneer made for Asus with a Front Face change.

But then again Asus make all there own stuff, so i could be wrong.

I would say give it a go, if it don't work for you return it and get yourself a Pioneer.

I got my Pioneer for £200 here in the UK and the price's keep getting cheaper.

I would also try the like's of Ebay Auction's etc... where you might even pick up a Pioneer even cheaper
