i should save this so i can copy n paste.

ps2 only has dvd playback drivers.

when they release the ps2 hd and operating system here in the us, someone can program a vcd/svcd player that uses software codecs. ps2 is fast enough.

Kdiddy you are the one wasting his time with your uninformed views. The PS2 does play VCDs. All you have to do is encode it in the PS2 format then do the swap trick to boot it. I have done this and it works. I suggest YOU do some searching and get informed

The PS2 format is not the VCD format. It is quite simply the PS2 format.

  7. I totally understand that Next, I was going to mention that in my post. Think of it this way its a Video on a CD. Video CD????

  8. Koneki, next is very correct in his view.

A VCD is not just video on a CD disc but a very specific format... one which is not supported on the PS2.

I understand your sentiment but it should be clarifed as it may confuse people who may not be clear on what a VCD is.

I do understand that it isnt technically a VCD. What shall we call it a PS2VCD?? Just kidding. Anyway the point is if you want to watch your VCDs on the PS2 convert them to the PS2 format. Not likely you would want to watch them on your PS2 cause if you own VCDs it would be safe to assume you own a VCD player. But if your PC is your VCD player and you want to watch them on a larger screen that is one of the ways to do it.

i would have thought one of the reasons sony swapped from top loading to tray loading consosles is to stop people doing the swap trick. does it really still work?

  11. Yeah it still works It requires opening your PS2 up and fiddling around inside also the swap trick I use requires the PS2 Utility Disc so I think this swap trick only works on the Japanese PS2.
