Now that a lot of the cheaper DVD players have had VCD compatability removed from thier specification - 2 that come to mind are pacific and apex - I am sure there are many more. I am looking for recommendations for a DVD player that will play CDR VCD's. I want to buy my daughters 1 each for Christmas. Am looking at around the £100 mark (UK)

Look in the Argos catalouge, 69 quid and I've seen good reviews for this machine considering the cost.

Do you know for sure that it plays VCD, because it does'nt mention it.

Toshiba's SD-K610 plays 'em and can be found at Costco for $89.

I just went to Argos and purchased what was supposed to be an Alba DVD108, but what they actually supplied was an Alba DVD114. This player plays DVD and VCD, CDR/RW MP3 and Multiregion straight out of the box. No hacks required (hav'nt tried SVCD yet). So I went and bought another 2. £210 for 3 DVD players that play just about everything, BARGAIN, thats less than the 1 Pioneer I have in my living room.
