  1. I love the compact size of virtualDub, but just haven't been able to figure out if i could use it to edit DV format.
could some one give a clear answer and direct me to where i may find the instruction?

    thanks

Check the VD page. I believe it can edit ONE type of DV ( forget if it's type 1 or type 2 ). This is assuming you have a VFW DV codec installed ( like the panasonic ).

For simple editing make sure to use direct stream copy so you don't end up re-encoding your video.

  4. thank you so much guys.

i have done quite a bit search about this baby today:

    the conclusion is :

You can't open the type 1 DV at all, it has to type 2, either captured or converted from type 1. i tried the Mainconcept DV codec. The audio track won't be extracted. you can only work on video track.

Solution: use avisynth as the frameserver, it solves the prob easily.

But i will also give panasonic codec a try as well.

thank you guys for quick response.
