  2. It depends on the quality of your source material. If it has a high resolution like 480x576 and high bitrate the quality could be the same.

If it's downloaded and is rather in 352x240 and such, you don't need SVCD, an XVCD or CVD would suffice or be even better.

Take a look at the conversion and authoring guides on this site! They'll tell you what to do for starters. If you have problems, provide us with the details of your source DivX like framerate, resolution asf.

GUIDE FOR GOING FROM DIVX TO VCD

IF YOU WANT SVCD JUST CHOOSE THAT TEMPLATE INSTEAD OF THE VCD TEMPLATE

  5. Ahem..I pointed you to the guides and SLBOSS even posted a direct link. I recommend you do some reading.

Short answer: You use TMPGenc and convert to MPEG-1 (eg. VCD) or MPEG-2 (eg. SVCD). Then you burn the resulting file to CD with a structure fitting the type of the file. Nero or VCDeasy will do that for you.

In general it's possible to convert back and forth between all sorts of video formats and some conversions are easier to do than others.
