I converted an avi to mpeg and now I have a 2145189 kb. Any idea how I did this and how to avoid it?
Thanks! 8)

How long (in minutes) of a clip is it?
Is it a DIVX AVI?
What do you plan to do with the mpeg?
So you maybe encoded it in SVCD's 2520 bitrate
and it ended up being 2.1GB
That is normal for a movie that is close to 2hours long. -
the movie is now just over 111 minutes long. It was an avi. I want to play it on a stand alone player. I did not write down the bitrate so I don't know what it was when I encoded it.
Thanks for your reply. -
You can "press" a 111 min on one CD (in SVCD Format) but you will get very poor quality. You should take two CD of 80min. The take any bitratecalculator (have a look into the Tool section of VCDHelp) and determine the maxmimal bitrate for conversion. A SVCD may not exceed a maximum 2748 kBit/s. Assuming your Audio stream is 128 kBit/s there will left 2620 maximum kBit/s for the video stream. To fit the film onto 2 CDs you have to decrease the average bitrate, which will be calculated by the bitrate calculator.
After conversion you can split the result to burn each part onto CD.
