  1. Hi, I have a Sony Wega Trinitron which I bought in Canada, hence its just ntsc..Connected to it, I have a dvd player which I bought in France..When I pop in a zone 1 dvd, it'll read it fine...but when I pop in a zone 2 dvd, the image just starts doing all kinds of crazy things...Is there any thing I can do about this? If I were to get an multizone ntsc dvd player would it solve the problem? Thanks

maybe its because most zone 2 are PAL dvd's ?

  3. I know that zone 2 is pal...But I thought that the only thing that mattered when it came to ntsc/pal playback was the dvd player...So, would buying an ntsc multizone dvd player allow me to read zone 2 dvds on my tv?

  4. You can buy an Apex 1500 that can play PAL and NTSC DVDs and change the firmware for a region free one or buy a modchip.

You can also buy the Prima DVD 1500 player (sold at Future Shop in Canada). Apparently, it has a region free remote hack.

See this website for more info:

P.S. Buying these models will be much cheaper than buying a multi-zone DVD player as you can only use a multizone DVD player with a NTSC/PAL TV. However, the Prima or Apex can be played on an NTSC TV since the conversion from PAL to NTSC is made by the DVD player. Very few DVD players can do this. So choose carefullly. (Incidentally, DVDs sold in Japan are Zone 2 and NTSC.)
