I've been making VCD's for some time, and I just made my first VBR SVCD.
Problem is, I can't seem to split it with TMPGEnc MPG tools. The picture preview window is black, so I can't tell what part of the movie I'm at (to determine the best split point). If I just pick a time, it makes the cut fine and saves the file properly.
Any ideas how I can get a preview for VBR SVCD file in TMPGEnc MPG Tools?

TMPGenc uses 3rd party mpeg2 decoders so in order to see any picture with an mpeg2 file you need to install an mpeg2 codec. You can get one in the tools section here on this site or you can install any software dvd player, a demo version will do.
My suggestion, however, is to not use TMPGEnc for cutting mpeg2 at all because it generally does not do a very good job and will often introduce sync problems. I suggest you use bbmpeg instead, you can find it in the tools section and a guide on how to use it in the EDIT section.
