SO there I was following Blackout's V 1.8 DVD to DVD-R Instructions. Everything he has written has so far been flawless. But Alas I have run into a issue. Right After I Use TMPGEncM 2.58 to create the large Video Only .mpg file and I try to import that .mpg file into DVD Maestro 2.0 using the Import Media Assistant option from the box in the lower right hand corner of the DVD Maestro screen it gives me a "Media Not Supported Error" when I try to import that file. Now I can play the .mpg file fine with Media Player and it reports it is using the Ligos Codec to play it. I can import the AC3 sound file with no problem. I have tried to recode the movie twice but it still will not allow me to import the video. I also have tried to import other various .mpg files that I have laying around my drive into DVD Maestro but I still get the "Media Not Supported Error". Does anyone know how to input MPEG-2 Video into DVD Maestro with getting that error?
Any Help would greatly be apprciated!

need the specs of the file you are trying to import .. also are you sure it is a elementary stream ? load the file into a demuxer and try to demux it ..
Maestro will only except a perfect stream ... i.e. playback @ 29.97/25 720 x 480 , GOP not longer than 18 or 15 depending if ntsc or pal .. ,
bit rate not over max ... which tmpgenc can do even if you set it to less than max .. 7000 or so is good as max , 8000 tops ..
if you use the tmpgenc template -- it will be complacent almost always .. -
Hey BJ_M,
Thanks for the quick response!
I am new at this so here are the answers I think you need.
I am using the TMPGEncM Wizard Template to encode the file. The settings are as follows which I got from the bottom of the Encoding window in TPMGEncm.
DVD NTSC (MPEG-2 720X480 29.97FPS CBR 3000kbps)
I selected the lower Bitrate to make the file size smaller to fit on 1 DVD+R disc. At least that is how I understood from reading Blackout's Tutorial.
As far the the Demuxing. I did that step in the DVD2AVI where it Split the Audio and Video into to seperate files. Is there a DeMuxer for Video as well?
Thanks! -
rename the file then to conventional 8.3 naming and copy or move that file to root of drive ..
like video.m2v -- try importing that ..
at that bit rate which is very low for dvd ... you may have thought about going 1/2 D1 .. but non the less see what you have got and how it works out ..
if when you used tmpgenc - if it loaded a audio file and if settings were not elementary video only .. it would have multiplexed a real or fake audio intot he stream which makes it a program stream (there are also transport streams) ..
just use mpeg tools in tmpgenc and see if when you load the file into demultiplex it shows two streams ... just grab the video stream .. -
Wahoo! It Worked! Thank you!
So this is what i got.
I renamed the .mpg file to Video.m2v and It still gave me the same error.
So I went into the Tmg Program and put it into the Demultiplex option and it showed the following.
Padding_Stream
Video_Stream
So I selected the Video_Stream and it resaved the file and I was able to successfully import it into DVD Maestro. Now, I noticed that there is a option in the TMG program that says System (Video Only). I always select that. Was there a step I forgot along the way that would have stripped the Padding_Stream off or do I just Demultiplex the video everytime?
Also, You mentioned my Bitrate was kinda low. I know it does make the file size smaller and the quality of the video goes to hell. Is there a Bitrate you recommand that will work for most movies on average and fit onto a single DVD+R disc?
Thanks again for all your help! -
to be honest - im not really sure as ive never seen that except if file size is to large ..
almost as if header is wrong in file ..
you can load said mpeg into windvd or powerdvd and see if lenth is reported correct .. -
Hey madmax, instead of editing out your problem when you got it fixed, why don't you add another post saying how you fixed it. That way other people with the same problem will be able to find the solution by doing a search. It helps to keep the same questions from being asked over and over again. Just a thought.
