1. Can an XSVCD have a resolution of 352X240 (Not trying to create a XVCD if that's what you're thinking) play back correctly?
2. Will the DVD Player add top and bottom borders to the XSVCD if the resolution is 352X240 and the Aspect ratio is 4:3 Display and the Source Aspect ratio is 16:9 Display?
3. Can VCDEasy burn a XSVCD with a resolution of 352X240?
The reason why I'm asking is because I have an APEX 1500 and I'm creating my first XSVCD. The APEX 1500 doesn't play back 23.976 Framerate movies well so I'm encoding it to XSVCD with the SVCD (NTSC Film) template with 3:2 Pulldown so it can bring it up to a 29.97 Framerate.

Yes, you're right about APEXs don't play 23.976 fps very well but that only with VCD 23.976 fps, not for SVCD 23.976 fps with 3:2 pulldown.
So if you only to avoid problem playing with 23.976 fps then you don't have to make XSVCD. SVCD 23.976 fps with 3:2 pulldown plays just fine in APEX. Better yet, you can try CVD (352x480 resolution and all setting same as SVCD) which you will get a better quality of video than res. 352x240.
To answer your question, YES you can do all that with 352x240 resolution XSVCD. The 2nd question about black bar on top and bottom, it depends all what screen format of your source. I'd suggest you to use Full screen (not Full screen (keep aspect ratio)) setting and see if it shows full screen when encoding. If not then you have to chop off top and bottom to get full screen. -
Thanks yajai, but I want to have my video in Widescreen.

Oh sorry my bad!
Use Full screen (keep aspect ratio) and it will add bar on top and bottom if your original source is widescreen. If you aspect ratio source is 16:9 then you have to set aspect ratio in TMPGEnc to 16:9 (NTSC) also. -
It's a DivX file with a resolution of 576x240 and it has a 23.976 Frame-rate. 576X240 is a Widescreen resolution (I think). What's the difference between 16:9 Display and 16:9 525 (NTSC)?
The XSVCD I'm going to create is The One (Jet Li), which is 87 minutes and 20 seconds long with a Frame-rate of 23.976. I need help from somebody that owns an APEX 1500.
Thanks again, yajai for helping me out:P

if you convert from DVD why are you here in DVD ripping
I'm kidding. Okay if you convert divx with widescreen type movie then I suggest you to use 1:1 and full screen (keep aspect ratio) first. This will result of original type screen. If you don't like it then you can try 16:9 display instead of 1:1.
The different of 16:9 display and 16:9 (NTSC). I'm not sure but I guess is about your source. So if you rip from widescreen DVD then you should use 16:9 (NTSC) and 16:9 for widescreen divx. Someone might be able to give you better info about this.
As I mentioned if you convert 23.976fps especially for APEX, you'd better go with SVCD using NTSCfilm with 3:2 pulldown. -
Thanks again, but I want it to be a Widescreen (X)SVCD and I want to know what it will look like since widescreen will not display properly since it's in a SVCD standard. Isn't 1:! (VGA) just for if you want to play it back just on your computer, ya_jai?
