  1. Hi, I'm playing my first VCD on my computer through Zoom Player. however I'm having problems that bring up various error messages. Some of the VCDs play perfectly whereas others start breaking up at various points and then freeze thus freezing the whole computer and I have to restart. As I bought the VCDs through Ebay, I'm wandering whether the problem is with my computer or are some of the VCDs I have faulty? Any help much appreciated!

If you are playing on your PC, try copying the .AVSEQ01.DAT file to HD and see if you get the same problem. If you do, change the extension to .mpg, and run it through TMPG's mpeg tools. Simple multiplex, Type MPEG-1 Video-CD. If you still have the same problem, you have a duff VCD.

You could also try a different player, such as WMP 6.4, or even better, PowerDVD.

  3. Thanks for that! I'll give it all a go - unfortunately I'm not too computer literate but I'll give it a try.
