I am trying to find a capture card that can capture more than one simultaneous feed, to setup a home security / monitoring system. So far the only card I've found was the Winnov Videum 4400, but it cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $900. For that price I could pay ADT for 4 years of service, and have them monitor my house for me. Does anyone have any suggestions. All I am really looking for is something that has 3 or 4 capture inputs, so I can use EyeCatcher or any other program that will detect motion, upload pictures to a web site, and play an audio file of a big ass dog barking in the house to scare people away or wake me up if I'm sleeping. One of the Osprey cards has like 3 A/V inputs, but I read that it will only capture one feed at a time. Does anyone know what the other 2 inputs do or how that works. One more quick question, has anyone used 3 or 4 capture cards in one machine. I was just wondering because Osprey boasts that you can have multiple cards in one machine, I was just wondering if anyone had tried this and if so if they had IRQ problems or anything like that. It would ba an alternative to buy 4 $100 cards instead of buying Winnov's $900 card. Thanks in advance for any info or suggestions. Just in case, I run Solaris, Linux, XP, and 2k, on 3 different machines, so any OS would do. Take care.

hehe
go to a security store, they have had barking dog boxes for years
there are so many factors against this idea, that no I wouldn't want the job. I could do it, but the hardware would cost more than a real security system.
but before this, I would move to someplace where I feel safer. -

There are multiplexers for cameras and security stores should sell them. What I personally have used in one project (not security related), had 4 inputs and 1 out + RS-232 for stearing. It had also alarm for disconnected camera. Wasn't cheap tough (don't recall the price, nor make or model).
