Hi everyone,
I've downloaded lots of movies in the past and I still do almost all of them are in DivX Avi format and some of them turn out to be in better quality then others. I was wondering before I convert my movies to VCDs is there any kind of useful software commonly used for video editing where without too much time and work I can increase the quality and the sharpness of the movie. I know that if the quality of the movie is better obviously the size of the movie will be bigger. But when I make VCDs I usually use 2 CDs and if I get better quality movie I wound't mind using 3 or even 4 CDs as long as I enjoy watching the movie.
Thank you

easy rule to remember:
your vcd can never be better than the source file it came from, its just impossible. so if your original avi isnt perfect then the vcd can not be perfect.
other than that cce or tmpgenc are both great encoding programs and have several settings to play with -
I understand what you are saying but isn't there any software that I can use to change the quality of the DivX AVI source file before I burn it as VCD(MPEG-1)
Thanks for your answer -

You can use noise reduction +/- video filtering to help make the end result look more pleasing. How well this works will depend on your material.
